There's a popular Pidgin proverb which says, “monkey no fine but hin mama like am”. Which can be translated to mean no matter how ugly, flawed, or defective a person is, they are still loved by their loved ones. π
Many people believed Abraham Lincoln was ugly, including himself, and he even had a sense of humor about it. Someone once called him 'two-faced' at a debate, and he replied, "If I had two faces, would I be showing you this one?" π
The fact is that you may not be as beautiful as Genevieve or as handsome as Ramsey Noah, that's a fact. However, the truth is that you're fearfully and wonderfully made by God! So love yourself, regardless of all your flaws and defects. ππ
Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent". Therefore, although the saying "monkey no fine but hin mama like am" is a good one; a better aphorism would be "monkey no fine but hin like himself". It's a fact — the value we place on ourselves is the same value the world places on us. So love yourself! ππ
The truth is, we're all flawed one way or the other. However, according to author and zen philosopher Cheri Huber, “It takes a tremendous act of courage to admit to yourself that you are not defective in any way whatsoever“. So once again love yourself dear. After all… na who fine epp? π
