A new trend is gradually taking over the social life of our youths, and it is called the ‘Baby Mama Syndrome’. A situation where a woman bears a child for a man who's not yet her husband, but receives regular pay from him for the upkeep of the baby.
The high rate of unemployment in the country coupled with the increasingly high cost of weddings, could be blamed as the major culprits of why most young men are yet to settle down, and why some of them now favour the more cheaper alternative of simply getting a lady pregnant without having to commit to her fully.
Another reason why this trend is becoming so popular among today's youths is because sex is too cheap to get. Back in those days, a man could only enjoy the goodies of a woman through marriage and that made them eager to want to get married. Today, they give it freely! And once you give a man the cookie, he'll postpone the ring.
Greed, on the part of some women is also another reason why most of them also end-up becoming baby mamas. Most women are not ready to build a life from scratch with a young promising man. They want ready-made men who are already living the good life.
Whether the ‘baby mama wave’ is here to stay still remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, it's not going away anytime soon.
