THE HUNGER FOR SEX

“The urge to have sex is so powerful that it can drain psychic energy away from other necessary goals”. — Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Flow

I believe the reason God doesn't want us having sex before marriage  is because of the addictive nature of sex. Once a man or woman taste the sweetness of sex, they tend to lose their head as it were. You become drawn to it's power and allure, and most days, it's all you can really think about.

The three greatest urges in the world are the hunger for food, thirst for water, and the need for sex. The hunger for sex is as powerful as the need for food and water. And it is the same for both male and female. In fact, the urge for sex in a woman is often stronger than that of the male. Of course, those who have never known the pleasures of sex (virgins), are not tormented by this monster, having never tasted it.

In marriage, it is assumed that this monster can be fed as much as he wants. And that's why I think that nothing is more difficult to bear or imagine than a sex-starved marriage. It's like dying of thirst in an ocean! But there is this argument that the stress of marriage often takes a toll on the sex-life of couples, but that's another story for another day.

Now, someone may ask the question: “shouldn't masturbation be enough to satisfy the sexual urge?” My answer to that question is yes, but only for a while. For someone who have enjoyed the pleasures of sex for years, masturbation is like eating snacks to quench hunger. It's just a temporary solution. Eventually, the hunger comes back, and food (sex) is only what shall satisfy it.

Sex is one of the most beautiful thing in the world, but unless you are married, it can be a huge burden because it consumes a lot of time that could otherwise have been chanelled into a more productive venture. If you are yet to have sex as a single guy or lady, then I have just one word for you: “you lucky bastard!”
