Why You Should Embrace Death

The greatest deception in our world today is the fear of death! Why fear something you simply cannot escape from — however hard you try? Why fight a battle you surely can't win? We all must die, whether we like it or not.

I live my life everyday thinking about death; not in a scary way but as a goad, an impetus, to help me live my life to the fullest. Because remembering that I'd die someday, is the best tool I know to help keep everything in my life in perspective.

Why would I allow myself get carried-away by riches and material stuffs when I know one day I would leave it all behind? How can I keep envy or pride in my heart when I know that I'm nothing but dust? Why harbor bitterness and malice when I  know for a certain that both the offender and the offendee (which is myself), would both be dead in about a 100 years from now?

The reality and inevitability of death — if properly managed and channelled — can give our life here on earth a lot of meaning. Because in the face of death, nothing really matters. My success or failures; my petite worries or grand visions; my past or my future. In the face of death, the only thing that truly matters is now, the present, this moment. The truth is, we cannot live our lives to the fullest until we resign ourselves to death. Until we fully embrace it.
